Origin knowledge. Commercial clarity.

A23 connects Yunnan coffee with Hong Kong through responsible sourcing, shared knowledge, and opportunities that extend beyond the cup.

03 / On the Ground

Not just a name on a bag.

In November 2025, A23 travelled from Hong Kong through Kunming to Pu’er Lancang to study the plantation environment, cherry picking, family farms, and processing areas firsthand.

Three expressions: washed for clarity, honey for sweetness, and ASD for concentrated fruit and texture

03 / SUPPLY

Built for continuity: small sample evaluation first, then clearer volume planning and long-term farm relationships.

04 / COFFEE WITH PURPOSE

From shared passion to shared opportunity.

A23 began with a love of coffee, but our purpose became clearer when we met the people growing it.

During our first visits to Yunnan, we encountered farming families working with determination under challenging conditions. Despite the difficulties they faced, their pride in their land and passion for coffee were unmistakable. Coffee gave us common ground and allowed a genuine relationship to begin.

We knew we did not want that relationship to be limited to purchasing beans. Our aim is to grow alongside the communities behind our coffee—combining responsible trade with practical knowledge, new skills, and longer-term opportunity.

"A better cup of coffee should create better opportunities for the people behind it."

01 / AT ORIGIN

Growing knowledge alongside coffee

Purchasing coffee from Yunnan is only the beginning of our relationship with producers. Through our experience and industry connections, we aim to share practical knowledge concerning cultivation, harvesting, processing, quality control, and changing market expectations. By exploring washed, honey, anaerobic, and other processing approaches, producers can develop a wider range of coffees and improve their ability to compete in the specialty market. This is a two-way exchange. Farmers possess invaluable knowledge of their land, climate, and crops. We contribute additional technical and market perspectives so that better decisions can be made together.

02 / FUTURE SKILLS

Creating possibilities for the next generation

We also want coffee knowledge to extend beyond the farm. Our longer-term vision includes introducing barista and coffee-service skills to younger members of farming communities. These capabilities can broaden their employment choices, whether they remain close to home or seek opportunities in larger cities. The purpose is not to determine someone’s future for them. It is to give them more knowledge, confidence, and choices with which to shape it.

03 / HONG KONG

Bringing the mission home

The same philosophy continues in Hong Kong. Through collaboration with NAAC, we support opportunities for people with disabilities and others who face barriers to employment to learn practical coffee-roasting skills. Developing a specialist skill can build confidence, encourage greater independence, and support more meaningful participation in the workplace and community. We also supply coffee to a café in Tai Hang that works with young people whose education or personal circumstances may have interrupted their path. Coffee can give them a welcoming place to learn, develop an interest, meet people, and discover a possible direction for the future. Although coffee cannot solve every personal challenge, a supportive community and a sense of progress can make a meaningful difference.

04 / ONE CONNECTED JOURNEY

From Yunnan farms to Hong Kong communities

Our work in Yunnan and Hong Kong is not made up of separate charitable activities. It is one connected journey. From improving coffee quality at origin to developing practical skills in Hong Kong, we want more of the value created by coffee to reach the people who grow it, prepare it, and build their futures around it. This is the kind of coffee company we are working to become: commercially responsible, personally connected, and committed to creating opportunity wherever our coffee travels.
